What do these priorities tell us?
This above list represents how we go about
doing what we do as a church family, in our ministries to one another and to others who don't yet know the love, forgiveness,
and guidance of Christ but may come to know Him through us (Matthew 5:13-16). It helps us "keep the main thing the main thing"
in all we do as a church.
We start with prayer, seeking God's
will in decisions that will affect us and others, so that we don't do things in vain, falling into the trap of following man's
will rather than God's (Matthew 6:33a) as a result.
We keep in mind our purpose of
knowing Christ and making Him known, discerning and determining whether or not the things we are doing help to fulfill that
purpose-otherwise, we don't waste time or money on it!
Next, we believe that developing people
matters more than promoting programs, especially if it's uncertain as to whether or not a program is contributing to
the development of a more healthy (emotionally, mentally, psychologically, relationally/socially, physically and spiritually),
Christ-like person.
The above is why property, a place
to hold any programs, is our last priority, since we don't want to pay for property at the expense of not being able to fully
help people, not only financially in these times of need, but ultimately spiritually in showing them the love of Christ through
our care of them.
In all of this, we thank God for how He
has continued to provide where He guides throughout our first years of this wonderful community of believers called New Hope
Community Church (Matthew 6:33b)!
